Privacy Policy

We respect your privacy and creative intellectual property. This policy outlines how we collect, safeguard, and process your personal and creative data across Screenplay.Ink.

✨Our Commitment to Creative Privacy

At Screenplay.Ink, we understand that your screenplays, treatments, and story worlds are your most valuable intellectual assets. This Privacy Policy describes how AJASTOS FILM TECHNOLOGY LABS PVT LTD("we," "us," "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects your information through our website and platform.

Core Promise: We never sell your personal data or creative screenwriting content to advertisers or data brokers. Your scripts remain strictly confidential and under your cryptographic control.

1. Introduction & Statutory Compliance

This Privacy Policy is published in strict compliance with the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011. It is designed to help you understand how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you access or interact with Screenplay.Ink.

By creating an account, subscribing to our services, or interacting with our web platform, you explicitly consent to the collection and use of your personal and technical information as outlined in this document.

2. Information We Collect

We collect several distinct categories of information to operate and personalize our screenwriting ecosystem:

  • Personal Information: Identifying information such as your full name, email address, phone number, billing address, and organization name when you register for an account or purchase a subscription.
  • Sensitive Personal Data: With your explicit consent during checkout, our encrypted payment gateways collect financial data (such as credit/debit card numbers or UPI tokens) required to securely process transactions. We do not store raw credit card numbers on our local servers.
  • Creative & Production Data: Text, screenplay dialogue, scene outlines, character notes, budgets, and schedules that you actively input, edit, or upload into our collaborative editor and Producer OS tools. This data may be collected to help improve and train our tools. However, you maintain full control and can opt out of this collection at any time. Upon opting out, your creative and production data is immediately encrypted, rendering it completely inaccessible to our systems or any third parties for training purposes.
  • Usage & Diagnostics Data: Technical telemetry related to your interactions with our platform, including IP addresses, device identifiers, browser types, operating system versions, timestamps, and page latency logs.
  • Cookies & Tracking Technologies: Session identifiers and local storage tokens used to maintain authentication states, preserve editor preferences, and analyze anonymized platform traffic.

3. How We Use Your Information

We process the information we collect for the following specific operational purposes:

  • Service Delivery: To provide, maintain, stabilize, and continually improve our real-time collaborative writing and formatting tools.
  • Transaction Processing: To manage subscription billing, invoicing, and payment verification.
  • Platform Personalization: To remember your workspace settings, editor themes, and custom macro configurations.
  • Communication: To respond to support tickets, deliver critical system security alerts, and send product feature updates (which you may opt out of at any time).
  • Security & Enforcement: To monitor for suspicious login activity, prevent account sharing abuse, enforce our Terms of Service, and safeguard cloud storage integrity.
  • Legal Compliance: To satisfy statutory auditing, tax reporting, and lawful regulatory mandates.

4. How We Share Your Information

We treat your data with the highest degree of care and only share information under strictly controlled circumstances:

  • Vetted Service Providers: We partner with industry-leading cloud infrastructure providers (e.g., AWS/GCP), encrypted payment gateways (e.g., Stripe/Razorpay), and email delivery services. These vendors are contractually bound to process data solely on our behalf and under strict confidentiality obligations.
  • Collaborators You Invite: When you invite co-writers, directors, or producers to your screenplay projects, your profile name, email, and creative edits are shared with those specific invited users in real-time.
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if legally compelled to do so by court order, judicial subpoena, or government authority, or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our physical and digital rights, your safety, or the safety of the public.
🔒 Absolute Guarantee: We do NOT sell, rent, or trade your personal information, email addresses, or creative screenplay manuscripts to third-party marketing firms, AI training scrapers, or data brokers under any circumstance.

5. Data Security & Storage

We implement rigorous, multi-layered cybersecurity protocols to protect your personal and creative information:

  • Encryption in Transit & at Rest: All web traffic is secured via TLS 1.3 encryption. Screenplay files and database records are encrypted at rest using AES-256 standards.
  • Access Controls: Internal access to user databases is strictly limited to authorized engineering personnel via multi-factor authentication (MFA) and audited access logs.
  • Blockchain Hashing: Registered scripts utilize cryptographic SHA-256 hashing on decentralized ledgers to verify timestamped ownership without exposing plain-text manuscript content.

While we deploy enterprise-grade security, no internet transmission or cloud storage system is 100% impenetrable. We continually audit our systems to mitigate emerging security risks.

6. Your Privacy Rights & Choices

Under applicable data protection laws, you possess comprehensive control over your personal data:

  • Right to Access: You may request a comprehensive JSON or PDF export of your personal profile data and stored screenplays at any time.
  • Right to Rectification: You may update, correct, or amend inaccurate personal details directly through your Account Profile settings.
  • Right to Erasure ("Right to be Forgotten"): You may request the permanent deletion of your account and associated personal data. Upon confirmation, your profile and scripts will be purged from active databases within 30 days.
  • Right to Withdraw Consent: You may revoke consent for non-essential telemetry or marketing communications via email unsubscribe links or account toggles.

To exercise any of these statutory rights, please email our privacy team at hello@screenplay.ink.

7. Data Retention

We retain your personal information and creative manuscripts only for as long as your account remains active or as needed to provide you with uninterrupted service. When you initiate an account deletion request, we remove your personal information and script files from our active cloud production servers.

We may retain anonymized usage analytics or basic transaction records in secure, offline accounting archives for up to 7 years solely to satisfy statutory tax auditing, fraud prevention, and legal compliance obligations.

8. Cookies Policy

Screenplay.Ink utilizes browser cookies and local storage tokens to optimize your digital screenwriting experience:

  • Essential Auth Cookies: Required to keep you securely logged into your workspace and verify WebSocket writing sessions.
  • Preference Tokens: Store local editor customization such as zoom level, pagination mode, and night mode themes.
  • Performance Analytics: Anonymized metrics that help our engineering team identify UI bottlenecks and server latency.

You can modify or block non-essential cookies through your browser settings; however, disabling essential auth cookies will prevent you from logging into the platform or editing screenplays.

9. Third-Party Links & Integrations

Our platform may feature optional integrations or links to external third-party services (such as cloud storage backup providers or film festival submission portals). We do not control and are not responsible for the privacy practices, content, or data policies of these external websites. We encourage you to review their respective privacy statements before connecting third-party apps.

10. Children's Privacy

If we discover or are notified that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 18 without verified parental consent, we will take immediate action to delete the account and purge all associated data from our servers.

11. International Data Transfers

Screenplay.Ink operates globally. Your information may be transferred to, hosted on, and processed by cloud servers located in countries outside your jurisdiction of residence (such as cloud nodes in India, the United States, or the European Union).

We ensure that all international data transfers comply with statutory cross-border transfer mechanisms and that our hosting providers uphold stringent data protection standards equivalent to those mandated under Indian and international privacy frameworks.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

Your continued use of Screenplay.Ink following the publication of revised terms constitutes your informed acknowledgment and acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
